  • I had a wonderful time overall, however I was quite disappointed by the lack of transparency around the age range of the group. This is the second time I've experienced this on a trip, which is concerning. When booking, my understanding was that the average age would be around 42. In reality, the group was predominantly made up of retirees, alongside myself and one traveller significantly younger. While everyone was fantastic, and I tried to make the most it - the age range was not at all what had been implied. For many travellers, including myself, group composition is an important factor in choosing a trip, particularly in terms of shared interests, pace, and social dynamic. This experience felt very different from what I had expected when booking (the pictures on the website). Greater transparency around the expected age profile of the group, or clearer guidance on the typical demographic for each trip, would make a significant difference and help avoid mismatched expectations in the future. It depends on the age of the person I'm recommending it for, I don't think it's suitable for everyone.

  • I want to say I enjoyed all of Colombia, the highlight was Cartagena and the Cocoro Valley tour (albeit the hike was a bit short). I didn't like that tipping wasn't included in the price for tours that weren't really optional - seemed cheeky to me and didn't occur on the Central America tour. I think the Cartagena onward tour would have been great. Wish I'd done that instead. The Central Am Basics was hard - but glad I did it. The Colombia Express was a bit of a let down - didn't feel like value for money and quite a few optional activities weren't in the trip notes making it harder to budget.

Yes, it is customary in Latin America to tip service providers such as waiters, at approximately 10%. Recommendations for tipping drivers and local guides range from $5-10 USD per day. For your CEO, a guideline of $40-50 USD per person per week is suggested.
